Electrician Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions are the standard terms which apply to the provision of electrical services by Divergent Electric to customers who require electrical services to be provided at their home. Please read them carefully and ensure that you understand and agree to them.


1. Estimate Requests

    1.1. We accept requests for electrical services via phone, email, and online booking tool.

    1.2. Once we receive your request by phone or email, we will prepare an estimate and send it to you by email. 

    1.3. If we decide we cannot accept your request and provide an estimate, we will inform you this by email.

    1.5. The estimate is valid for 21 calendar days after the date we issue it. If not accepted after 21 calendar days the                      estimate will expire and may be subject to change.

    1.5. By accepting the estimate and our standard terms and conditions, you authorize us to schedule and begin work as             agreed upon.

 

2. Online Booking Tool Estimates

    2.1. All prices listed on our website are estimates that provide approximate costs for a project. 

    2.1. The estimated prices cover only preliminary assessment, specific services, and materials outlined on the website                  page of each particular service or as specified in the estimate.

    2.2. In booking services online, you agree to the estimated price for the services and our standard terms and conditions.

 

3. Estimate Changes

    3.1. Any additional materials, work, or changes outside the initial scope of work may result in additional charges.

    3.2. Unforeseen issues discovered after work begins may result in additional charges.

    3.3. Estimated prices assume that the existing installation is in adequate condition and complies with the minimum                   Canadian Electrical Code standards. If any work is required to bring the existing installation up to standards, there                will be an additional fee.

    3.4. Travel time or setup for revisits caused by site unpreparedness or customer no-show may be charged separately.

4. Deposit

    4.1. At the time of online booking or accepting the estimate, we may require you to pay us a deposit before the service             start date. The deposit will be approximately 25% of the estimated fee.

    4.2. If you cancel the electrical services without giving us 48 hours notice, we may retain some or all of the deposit.

 

5. Payment

    5.1. We will invoice you the final fee when the electrical services have been completed.

    5.2. You must pay the invoice before the electrician leaves the site.

    5.3. The final fee is inclusive of GST.

    5.4. We accept card payments, including debit and credit, on the electrician’s cell phone.

 

6. Certification

    6.1. The electrician warrants that she is registered with Technical Safety BC and is fully licensed. TSBC Contractor Licence #: 00214316

 

7. Electrician’s Obligations

    7.1. The services shall be provided in accordance with the description set out in our online service listing or the                            accepted estimate.

    7.2 We will ensure that the necessary permits for the job are obtained.

    7.3. We will ensure that the services are provided with reasonable care and skill and to a reasonable standard which                    correspond with best trade practice.

    7.4. We will ensure that they comply with any and all relevant codes of the practice.

    7.5. We will ensure the use of high-quality materials and proper installation techniques.

    7.6. We will provide clear explanations of the services performed and any recommendations.

    7.7. The responsibility for the products transfers from us to you once we receive payment in full for them.

    7.8. We will properly dispose of all waste that results from the provision of the electrical services except for waste and                packaging that results from customer supplied products.


8. Customer’s Obligations

    8.1. You are responsible for providing clear and detailed instructions about the desired electrical services.

    8.2. If any permissions are needed from any third parties such as landlords, strata councils, or similar, you must obtain                them before we begin to provide the electrical services.

    8.3. We require the removal of furniture, floor coverings, objects, and valuables from the work area before we begin to                  provide the electrical services.

   8.4. You are responsible for disconnecting appliances and electronics such as computers, printers, or similar before we                begin to provide the electrical services.

    8.5. You must give us at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule the job. If less than 48  hours notice                is given, we will retain the deposit.

    8.6. You are responsible for ensuring that we can access the residence at the appointed time.

    8.7. You may either give us a set of keys to the residence or be present at the appointed time to give us access. We                      promise that all keys will be kept safely and securely by us.

    8.8. We require that you restrict pets and children from the work area during the job to ensure safety. 

    8.9. We require that the work area is kept clear and out of use for the duration of the job to ensure safety.

    8.10. Failure to comply with safety instructions will not hold us accountable for any injuries or damages.

    8.11. We require you to be available, either in person,or by phone, or text, to answer questions or provide clarification                    during the project.

    8.12. You are responsible for notifying the electrician promptly of any concerns or issues.

9. Service exclusions that are not included unless explicitly quoted or listed in your estimate

    9.1. General work exclusions:

            9.1.1. Troubleshooting unrelated electrical issues not part of the quoted work.

            9.1.2. Repair of structural damage (e.g., framing, drywall, tile) unless specifically included.

            9.1.3. Cosmetic patching, painting, caulking, or refinishing after electrical work.

            9.1.4. Work in hazardous or unsafe environments (e.g., mold, asbestos, pests) unless remediated first.

            9.1.5. Installation or configuration of third-party smart home systems unless pre-arranged.

    9.2. Electrical & code-specific exclusions:

            9.2.1. Panel upgrades or service entrance changes unless explicitly quoted.

            9.2.2. Correction of pre-existing code violations unless included in the scope.

            9.2.3. Verification or tracing of existing circuits beyond the immediate work area.

            9.2.4. Load calculations or engineered drawings (may be required for large additions or shops).

            9.2.5. Submitting or managing strata/HOA approvals or building permits beyond electrical permits.

    9.3. Property condition exclusions:

            9.3.1. Work delayed or made impractical due to lack of access (e.g., locked areas, unprepared site).

            9.3.2. Electrical work in crawlspaces or attics with less than 4 feet of clearance unless specifically agreed.

            9.3.3. Work in areas with water exposure or leaks until corrected.

            9.3.4. Repairs to damage caused by rodents or wildlife (e.g., chewed wires).

    9.4. Customer-supplied materials exclusions:

            9.4.1. Installation of damaged, unsafe, or uncertified customer-supplied devices or fixtures.

            9.4.2. Warranty on customer-supplied parts or appliances.

            9.4.3. Compatibility or performance of customer-selected technology (e.g., dimmers, remotes, fans).

    9.5. Estimate & pricing exclusions:

            9.5.1. Scope changes requested after booking or while on site.

            9.5.2. Work required to uncover or repair hidden deficiencies (e.g., open splices, buried boxes).

​            9.5.3. Work outside the original booking location or property.

 

10. Cancellation

    10.1. If you cancel or reschedule the job more than 48 hours before your appointment we will issue a full refund of all                    sums paid, including any deposits.

    10.2. If you reschedule the job more than 48 hours before the appointment we will retain all sums paid, including any                   deposit and will deduct all such sums from any related balance payable on the rescheduled job.

    10.3. If you cancel the job less than 48 hours before the appointment we will retain all sums paid. No refund shall be                      issued.

    10.4. If you reschedule the job less than 48 hours before the appointment we will retain all sums paid. No refund shall                   be issued and no sums paid will count toward the fees and deposit payable on the rescheduled Job.

    10.5. We may cancel the job at any time before the appointed time and shall refund all sums paid, including the                              deposit.


11. Liability

    11.1. If we cause any damage to the property or anything in it, we will make good that damage at no additional cost to                you. We are not responsible for any pre-existing faults or damage in or to your property that we may discover while             providing the electrical services.

    11.2. Our total liability for any loss or damage caused as a result of your negligence or breach of these Terms and                          Conditions is limited to direct damages.

    11.3. We are not liable for any loss or damage you suffer which results from your failure to follow any reasonable                             instructions given by us.

    11.4. We are not liable for any damages in or to your property arising from negligence, misuse, or improper                                       maintenance by you.

    11.5. We are not liable for any damages in or to your property caused by external factors like power surges, lightning                      strikes, or natural disasters. We are not liable for any damages in or to your property arising from pre-existing                        problems not addressed during our service.

 

12. Warranty

    12.1. We warrant our workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of completion of the electrical services.  This                       warranty covers defects in materials and labour caused by us.

    12.2. The warranty covers repairs to faulty installations performed by our company during the warranty period.

    12.3. The warranty covers replacement of defective materials or components we installed, excluding normal wear and                   tear.                 

    12.4. The warranty does not include the following:

            12.4.1. Damage caused by external factors like power surges, lightning strikes, or natural disasters.

            12.4.2. Issues arising from pre-existing electrical problems not addressed during our service.

            12.4.3. Issues arising from our work that have been altered by anyone.

            12.4.4. Normal wear and tear of electrical components.

            12.4.5. Replacement of parts due to code upgrades or aesthetic preferences.

            12.4.6. Customer supplied materials: We are not responsible for the performance or failure of materials provided                               by customers.

 

13. Guarantee

    13.1. We guarantee that all work performed by our licensed electricians will meet the highest standards of quality and                  safety. If, within a period of 1 year from the completion date, you experience any issues related to our                                       workmanship, we will promptly return to diagnose the problem.

    13.2. If the issue falls under our warranty coverage (outlined above), we will repair or rectify the problem free of labour                   charges.
